The National Final 2008/09 - March 29th 2009 - Full Report

After telling friends not to accompany him to the national final of the Redtooth Poker League to avoid embarrassment, Brett Shufflebottom from the Pockets Snooker Club in Barnsley scooped the title UK Pub Poker Champion^TM at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham.

Glamour girl and poker enthusiast Abi Titmuss was on hand to present the £2,500 first prize along with a crystal trophy and a magnum of champagne. Snooker ace Jimmy White was also on hand early on in the day to meet and greet players at the final of the UK’s leading pub poker competition.

283 players travelled from the length and breadth of the country to compete in the final. A special mention must go to Alan McIntyre from the Granary in Elgin who made a round trip of 916 miles to finish in 192nd place.

Brett was chip leader when the final table began and held off a spirited fight back from Shaun Walsh from the Goose in the City in Wolverhampton before triumphing in a heads up battle with Dominic Elmieh from the Podger in Leeds.

Redtooth Poker is the UK’s largest pub poker league with over 50,000 players registered in over 1,000 pubs throughout the country. Redtooth is the official pub poker partner of Carlsberg and is the nominated supplier to most major pub companies within the UK.
