london_two_winner_web This weekend saw the Loose Cannon Club play host to another Redtooth regional final, this time to players from the South and West pubs of London. As the cards were dealt it wouldn’t be long before the first player was eliminated. Martin Reynolds of the Prince of Wales, East Barnet Village, thought his luck was in when his first hand was dealt with AK. His pre-flop raise was called then the flop delivered Martin a pair of Aces, he then called a raise and as the turn revealed an 8 he pushed All In but his opponant revealed A8 changing Martins luck and elimating him from the tournament.
Players then started dropping like flies and five hours later it was down to the last two tables. With 15 players left Gary Millard of the Kings Arms, Fulham Road hit a Royal Flush in clubs. Well done Gary. The Loose Cannon Club has now seen three Royal Flushes at Redtooth regional finals, more than any other host. The luck of the royal flush kept going and carried Gary onto the final table but couldn’t quite get him to the very end and become the regional champion, it did however get him to a respectable 6th place and a seat in the National Final. As the final table commenced it was quite close, although both Len Gardner of the Rose & Crown, Woodford Green and Jack Jewell of the Cross Keys, Hammersmith had a quite a chip advantage on the other 8 players. Jack and Len both played quite recklessly seeing them eliminated in 5th and 3rd respectively, but keeping their cool were Bob Foster of the Wheatsheaf, Thornton Heath and Gary Patrick of the Sportsman, Reading as they entered into the final heads up. Serial regional finalist, Bob became the eventual champion when his two pair were too much for first timer Gary.
