The Genting Casino in Glasgow opened their doors to our South Scotland members and boasted a near 100% attendance. A Vegas 100 package, semi-final seats and £500 would all be up for grabs.

The first trophy of the day was awarded to the Elphinstone Arms as they claimed the team event trophy. Brenda McNeish, Catherine Doran, William Gordon and Brian Tannerhill represented the venue.

Short stack Adam Balazs exited first in 10th place and he was followed by previous regional final winner Gabor Berecz in 9th place. Carol Graham was 8th with Simon Wade in 7th, Derek Sharp in 6th, Catherine Doran in 5th, Cameron Gray in 4th and Willie McCallum in 3rd. Nick Wain and Mic Thomson went head to head in the heads-up match to decide the day’s top prize. The final hand saw Nick hold K-3 to Mic’s A-2 giving Mic a slight lead pre-flop. That lead soon vanished as the board ran off K-K-A-8-5 to make Nick Wain the new South Scotland champion.
