West Midlands One Regional Final Season 4 09/10
March 10th, 2010
The excellent Circus Casino at Star City in Birmingham hosted first of two West Midlands Regional Finals. The venue is a big favourite amongst Redtooth and it’s players and they certainly delivered once again.
A tactical battle ensued on the final table as one would expect after over six hours of play to get there. The final table short stack Chris Dorricott from the Peacock in Shrewsbury performed a minor miracle to have his 23k starting stack carry him through to fourth place. The final table chip leader, Daniel Careless from the Britannia in Tewksbury ended up in third place after quite a three way tussle with the chip lead changing hands on a number of occassions. With the clock past 9pm, Peter Webb from the Raglan Arms in Rugby was crowned the West Midlands One Regional Final winner when his QJ defeated the J8 of Ashley Dace, though with a board of Q7T K, Ashley still had a number of outs but the river 4 sent him away a gallant loser with two hundred quid to boot!

North West One Regional Final Season 4 09/10
March 10th, 2010
The Stanley’s Circus Casino in Manchester hosted our North West One Season 4 Regional Final, with 127 players in attendance.
The top eight would receive cash prizes totaling £1000 with the top six receiving a National Final invite.
10 players would take their seat for the final table meaning two unlucky players would be leaving empty handed. Eric Bradbury from the Dog & Partridge in Morcambe would start as the chip leader with 135,000 in chips with Daniel Birch from the Golden Lion in Todmorden starting as the short stack with only 10,000. A comeback never materialized for Daniel as he was to be the first player out in 10th place.
The heads-up match would come down to Craig Knight from the Waggon & Horse in Wilmslow and Carl Ringland from the Spring Inn in Rochdale. The final hand of the night saw Craig’s 67 flop an open ended straight draw with Carl flopping top pair holding J9, a 10 on the turn would give Craig the straight but also giving Carl a chance of a re-draw to a bigger straight. The river bricked which left Craig as the North West One Regional champion. £500 goes to Craig along with a Redtooth glass trophy and a National Final invite.

The eventual winner, Daniel Mitchell from the Brookhouse Farm in Swindon qualified through the online Sunday afternoon Redtooth Tavern tournament. Daniel began the final table as chip leader with 300,000 in chips followed by Martin Brough of the Birchgrove in Cardiff with 205,000. Central England Regional Final Season 4 09/10
March 8th, 2010
The Gala Casino in Sol Central, Northampton once again played host to the Redtooth Central England Regional Final. 177 players battled it out in their last opportunity to qualify for this year’s National Final.
Play started promptly at 2.00pm with almost everyone playing cautiously in the early stages. After the buffet break, the blinds began to have an effect with more and more players being eliminated as the afternoon went on.
The real stories of the day though, came on the final table where 10 players battled it out for 8 seats at the National Final. The final 10 were headed by Lee Girard of the Blue Boar in Wantage, who had over 1/3rd of the chips in play (330k), however the poker gods deserted Lee and he eventually finished in 6th place. The only other players on the final table with 100k+ chips were Craig Dunkley from the Squirrels in Northampton (160k), Sam Powell from the Blue Bell Inn in Northampton (130k) and Elizabeth Whitty from the Queens in Didcot (110k). The remaining six players all came to the table short-stacked; Steven Byrne from Kennington SSC in Oxford (60k), Richard Wardale from the Golden Hind in Cambridge (50k), Pippa Wilson from the White Lion in Hemel Hempstead (40k), Jon Ainsley from Trimley SSC in Felixstowe (40k), Tiago Nunes from Empress in Cambridge (30k) and Jamie Pedder from the Netherfield Tavern in Milton Keynes must all have been fearing an early exit.
The unlucky duo finishing 9th and 10th respectively, just missing out on National Final seats were Jon Ainsley and Jamie Pedder. Finishing in 7th and 8th were Richard Wardale and Elizabeth Whitty. It looked as though there would be two more casualties within minutes, with the blinds at 20k/40k Pippa was down to 20k with Tiago also under the 100k mark, however both recovered from this precarious position and it soon appeared that a long battle was in prospect with all five players having almost equal chips. On a very active table there were very few cheap flops, with Craig and Sam mainly responsible for keeping everyone “honest”.
Craig eventually finished in 5th place, with Sam coming a very creditable 4th, Sam, unfortunately, will miss out on the National as he will be away on holiday in Gambia, however he does have the consolation of beating his dad’s best finish, 14th at the previous Regional Final. Having disposed of Sam by hitting a straight, Tiago then proceeded to bring the event to a finish by eliminating Steven (3rd) and Pippa (2nd) in the next two hands, remarkably by completing a straight each time.
Congratulations go to Tiago on finishing as the Central England Regional Champion, good luck at the National Tiago. Pippa, the runner-up, will also be missing from the National as she will be honeymooning in the Caribbean, it must have been a tough decision – marriage or the Redtooth National Final!

6th Lee Girard – Blue Boar, Wantage

East London Regional Final Season 4 09/10
March 8th, 2010
The popular Loose Cannon Club hosted the first of two London Finals, this weekend was the turn of our East London Regional Final.
A 9 player final table meant that one unlucky player would miss out on a cash prize while the top six would receive a cash prize and a National Final invite. Chris Beauchamp from the Earl Beatty in Surrey was the unlucky 9th place finisher and that left the cash winners to play for our National Final places.
As it turned out, our two chip leaders at the beginning of the final table would end up in the heads-up match, both Jamie Barker from the Nags Head in Welling and Paul Schacht from the White Hart in Chelmsford looking to win the £500 cash prize. The match looked all but over when Jamie doubled up leaving Paul with only 10,000 in chips. But Paul was on for a comeback of all comebacks as he got two double ups in consecutive hands, but the third double up was asking a little too much as Paul’s T5 couldn’t find any help on a 4A4 Q 6 board to outdraw Jamie’s J7. Congratulations Jamie.

North West Two Regional Final Season 4 09/10
March 8th, 2010
A stunning day was enjoyed by all at the Leo’s Casino in Liverpool. 130 players took their seat to find our first North West champion of 2010.
Play got underway on time at 2pm and Tom Crook from the Queens Hotel in Lytham was the first elimination of only a few during the first hour. Further eliminations were swift thereafter as we had a final table after only 5 hours of play.
The final table was set once Joe McGowan from the Priory in Liverland was eliminated in 11th place, leaving the final 10 players to play for eight cash prizes and six National Final places. Craig McKenzie started as the big chip leader with 210,000 in chips, but it was only enough for a 3rd place finish. Craig at least received £100 and a National Final place in Nottingham.
Craig’s elimination left Charlie Williams from the Merlin Hotel in Crewe and Francis Egan from the Mulberry Tree in Warrington, who came back from only 10,000 in chips as the final table began, to play for £500 and a Redtooth glass trophy. Charlie started with the bigger stack of the two, largely thanks to being dealt AA twice and KK once during the final table. Francis was given some hope during heads-up as his AA held up against Charlie’s 1010. Shortly after though, there was a new North West Two champion crowned when Charlie’s A8 suited kept it’s advantage over Francis’ Q10 as the final board ran out 757 2 3. This was Charlie’s first ever Regional Final and afterwards said he was only interested in playing for the win, just like he will be at Nottingham later this month. Well played everyone.

South England Regional Final Season 4 09/10
March 8th, 2010
142 players entered Duffs Full House for the South England Regional Final.
James Purkiss from the Famous Old Pines in Bournemouth was the first player out in 142nd, with their other two qualifiers fairing much better coming home in 16th place and 30th place respectively. The team from Plough On The Green in Newbury had a day to remember as two of their three qualifiers made the final table, these being Rob Allen and Emily Hayes.
As the final table began, Michael Brant from the Locomotive in Little Hampton had a huge chip lead with 374,000 in chips, a staggering 236,000 more than his closest rival. Michael’s chips dwindled slightly as the rest of the runners tried to up their game and close thegap. However, after a lengthy final table, Michael found himself in a heads-up match against Plough On The Green’s Rob Allen. The match ended when Rob went all-in with K6 only to receive a quick call from Michael, holding A7. The tension built as the flop turn and river were dealt, but there was no help for Rob as Michael’s A7 secured the win when a 3J8 10 and 7 hit the felt. Michael becomes our new South England champion and takes home £500, a Redtooth glass trophy and a place in our annual National Final.
