The South Yorkshire final was played out once again at Sheffield United Football Club.

With 215 runners it was going to be another exciting event. Carl Morgan of the Merchants House (Chilli Banana) who qualified for the tournament by winning the online Redtooth Tavern league, in association with Betfred poker, proved that face to face competition is very different to online poker managing to finish only just inside the top 100. Carl was a bit of a celebrity after also winning an online $10,000 guaranteed tournament so all the other players were eager to knock him out.
As it came down to the final table the cheap leader, Andy Moore of the Gamekeeper, Scotter had over 300k chips, three times more than the eventual winner Alan White of the Mill, Chesterfield. Andy just couldn’t hold onto his chips and eventually finished in 3rd. The final heads up between Alan and Darrell Grisdale of the Tut’N’Shive, Doncaster culminated with Darrell holding Q7 agianst Alan’s pair of Kings the flop delivered 10 A 10 . The turn and river didn’t deliver the lifeline Darrell needed, crowning Alan the Champion with Two pairs, a popular winning hand at regional finals held on Sunday 6th September.
