The fabulous Las Vegas style Grosvenor Casino in Coventry, part of the Ricoh Arena, hosted our latest West Midlands Two final with nearly 200 players in attendance altogether. All attending players were hoping to leave with a trip to Las Vegas in the bag for next year!

The best represented venue was a long serving Redtooth Poker pub in the Digby in Birmingham. They were represented by David Copestake, Martin Neill, Phil Stoddart and the ever present Jan Palla.

A tough final table included last season’s champion Lloyd Thomas who was looking to follow in Paul Turner‘s footsteps by winning back to back regional finals. The final also included previous VEGAS100 qualifiers Phil Hart and Paul Lacey who won two golden tickets last year. With all that being said, Paul Murton started the final as the big stack on 327,000 chips, the only player to have over 100,000! However, it was a final to forget for Paul as he was eliminated in 6th place just before Paul Lacey in 5th. Our heads-up encounter saw the impressive Lloyd Thomas play John Stocker for the golden ticket to Las Vegas. The poker gods were once again shining on Lloyd as the final hand saw him dominated holding Q-9 to John’s A-Q. But a final board of 9-3-Q-J-K got Lloyd out of trouble and gave him the honour of being only the 2nd player in Redtooth history to win two consecutive regional finals. Congratulations Lloyd!
