A Players Perspective of the National Final

April 3rd, 2008

Martyn Pegram, Cuckoo Pint, Fareham “I was absolutely amazed by the high quality of the venue, DTD staff and the Redtooth team. Some brilliant card tricks by Redtooth”s Tim helped to calm any nerves I may have had. Many players were murmuring that not being the 1st out on the day was the most important thing to them.”

Phil Fitzgerald, Portland Hotel, Southport “I had a great day , the organisation was fantastic , the plasma screens around the room kept everyone up to date on the progress of the tournament. The buffet was fantastic and the reception of champagne was a great idea.” Sean O’Brien, Cross Keys, Belper “Top quality! An amazing day at a top class venue with a friendly atmosphere, excellent day had by all and just waiting for next years national finals!!! Well done Redtooth!!

James Hall, Crown, Worcester “I really enjoyed the final and thought it was a great day, definitely can”t wait to try my luck again next year. Came with two other players from our league and we all cracked the top 100 (including one on the final table) and I was very pleased with how myself and the others done”

Alastair McGowan, Golden Eagle, Blackpool “Ever since qualifying three weeks ago I have been really looking forward to playing in such a big event at a purpose made state of the art venue and I was not disappointed. The players were all very friendly and although it was highly competitive everyone respected everyone else. First rate job by Redtooth and hats off to Simon Trumper and all his highly trained staff for making this an event I am determined to qualify for again."

Martin ‘Magic’ Youngman, Eagle, Stockton on Tees “Venue was very smart – a very professionally run tournament! You knew exactly what to do and when to do it – the dealers were great saved slow play from novice players… Enjoyed the experience even though the cards didn’t go for me on the day – finished in position 147…pity it wasn’t snooker !"

John Leasley, Cock Inn, Wakefield “I had a fantastic time and cannot wait until the next regional finals, that is if I qualify. The day was brilliant and I cannot thank everyone for such a well organised day and the dealers were patient and helpful. Winning £100 on a £20 buy in later in the day just crowned a perfect weekend."

Mike Eklund, Birchgrove, Cardiff “I thought it was very well run and Dusk Till Dawn and Redtooth ensured that all those there had a great time. Guests Phil Tufnell and Michael Greco were very approachable and seemed to have time for everyone. I look forward to seeing you next year and know to spread the word”

Billy Jones, Maggies, Birmingham “It was a very enjoyable day and a great opportunity to play against a strong field of poker players; also the day was very well run with very competent staff.”

Matt Grubb, Crown, Worcester “A great day out, there were three of us competing from our pub which made it more entertaining. I felt the tournament ran well and it was great experience to take part in the tournament looking for the first national pub champion”
