Some brilliant card tricks by Redtooth”s Tim helped to calm any nerves I may have had. Many players were murmuring that not being the 1st out on the day was the most important thing to them.”

20,000 players had played in hundreds of pubs across the country with the top 2 from each qualifying for the regional finals. These had, on average, 100 players and the top 8 qualified for the National Final. So at 11am we welcomed 248 players plus guests for drinks and buffet in the company of England cricketer and Question of Sport captain Phil Tufnell and Eastenders actor Michael Greco who were on hand for photos and autographs…

The regional finals for Season Four 2007/08 were held between Sunday 9th March and Sunday 16th March. Ten finals were held around the country across these dates. Thank you to all the venues and staff who helped us make these events successful, and congratulations to all the players. We hope you had enjoyable days and look forward to seeing all the qualifiers at DTD, Nottingham!

The Mackworth Hotel in Derby was again a wonderful setting for the East Midlands final. Darren Hart of the the Red Lion, Sandiacre was the winner, garaunteeing his place in the National Final.
