One of Redtooth’s most established regional final venues, the Loose Cannon Club in London hosted the first of our two London finals. The usual eight cash prize winners will also be invited to Nottingham next year.

As soon as ‘shuffle up n deal’ was announced the card room fell silent. John Beech from the Goose in Croydon attended in his usual fancy dress. Having previously failed to reach top gear dressed as The Stig, this time he was hoping to launch himself into the national final dressed as a Thunderbird. But John unfortunately lost complete control and crashed out in 21st.

The Team Event was won by the Recreation Ground in Camberley. They were represented on the day by Mick Sheridan, John Lambton and current league champion Bojan Nastic, who went on to claim a final table place.

East London’s final table lined up as…

Seat 1: Sebastian Walicki – Red Deer, Croydon (52,000)
Seat 2: Josh Fenn – Rose & Crown, Woodford Green (62,000)
Seat 3: William Powell – Goose & Granit, Walthamstow (57,000)
Seat 4: Matthew Laffan – Royal Standard, Black Heath (217,000)
Seat 5: Evelyn Williams – Alleyns Head, West Dulwich (17,000)
Seat 6: Larry Biggs – Crown & Crooked Billet, Woodford Bridge (129,000)
Seat 7: Orlando Antoine – Goose, Beckenham (104,000)
Seat 8: Bojan Nastic – Recreation Ground, Camberley (131,000)
Seat 9: Steve Haynes – Village, Walthamstow (123,000)

Bojan Nastic had a final table to forget as his 131,000 chip stack quickly deserted him. Luckily for Bojan, not quickly enough to miss out on a national final seat which was to Josh Fenn‘s dismay as Josh was eliminated in 9th place. Short stack Evelyn Williams played a fantastic final to maneuver into 4th place for £60. Matthew Laffan was our third place finisher for £100 which left Larry Biggs and Orlando Antoine to battle for the win. This was Larry’s 10th consecutive regional final and second final table having previously finished in 4th. It proved to be 10th time lucky for Larry as his Q-9 held it’s slender advantage against Orlando’s J-10. The final board ran out A6Q-7-J. Congratulations Larry Biggs!
