THE ACTION

Our friends from Liverpool and the surrounding areas made their way to the Circus Casino in Queen Square for the final North West Two regional final of the Redtooth year. This would also be the first Redtooth Poker regional final to be streamed online at www.gentingpoker.com/liverpoollive with the final table having a 15 minute delay with hole cards being shown around the casino and online. £1,000 was played for along with six national final seats.

Play started a little after 2pm where we saw few eliminations before the break. The buffet break and the excitement of the raffle draw (Winning ticket of number 1!) changed this of course with eliminations left right and centre after the break. Last season’s champion, Tarra Moore, was dethroned as soon as she was eliminated in 87th place just missing out on a top half finish. The team event was again dominated by our Warrington venues with the Seven Woods again in contention with the Crown & Cushion. But it was to be a second 2nd place in a row for the Seven Woods as three top 20 finishers from the Crown & Cushion secured a team event win which was spearheaded by Dave Campbell with excellent back up from league champ Sean Eden and Barry Hitditch.

THE FINAL TABLE

Seat 1: Steve Dawson – Thatched House, Poulton le Fylde (45,000)
Seat 2: Andy Jack – Seven Woods, Warrington (41,000)
Seat 3: Leon Cloherty – Ring O Bells, West Kirby (63,000)
Seat 4: Tom Goddard – Mulberry Tree, Warrington (109,000)
Seat 5: Craig Morris – Red Lion, Warrington (39,000)
Seat 6: Andrew MacQuire – Seven Woods, Warrington (33,000)
Seat 7: Scott Dunroe – Alexanders, Chester (46,000)
Seat 8: Jason Cross – Highfield Pub, Blackpool (54,000)
Seat 9: Donna Stanton – Alexanders, Chester (133,000)
Seat 10: Kieren Whatley – Lord Derby, St Annes (64,000)

After a short delay the final table got under way. It wasn’t long before the cash prizes were reached with Andrew MacQuire and Scott Dunroe unfortunately missing out. Once Jason Cross had bubbled the national final seats we were soon heading to a heads-up showdown between Steve Dawson and Andy Jack. Steve was by far the chip leader as heads-up play began and although Andy made a few inroads into Steve’s stack the tournament was coming to an end. Andy got his chips in with Q-10 only to be up against Steve’s A-7. A board of 2-4-J J 3 was no help for Andy as Steve Dawson became our latest North West Two champion.
