Luton’s Grosvenor Casino hosted the Central England regional final where we awarded over £1,500 worth of prizes, including the much sought after trip to Las Vegas for the Vegas 100 experience. Cash prizes and trophies were also awarded on the day.

The first prize awarded was the team event trophy which had a few contenders in the Blackberry Jack in St Albans, the Hemel Hempstead Cricket Club and the eventual winners the Kingsley Park WMC in Northampton. They were represented by league champion John Considine, Jim Smith, Shane Hall & Patrick O’Connell Jnr.

Our final table of 10 started with Louis Wasylyczyn as the chip leader on 174,000 with Shane Hall not far behind on 121,000. The first player out was Andrew Page in 10th place with Dan Beswick 9th, Sjoerd Schuurmans 8th, Steve O’Reilly 7th, Dave Martin 6th, Mark Roberts 5th, Liz Shipton 4th & Louis Wasylyczyn 3rd. Louis’s elimination left Shane Hall and Steve Turner to battle for the remaining two prizes.

After a short heads-up battle the tournament came to an end with a classic race as Shane’s K-J met Steve’s 7-7 with Steve at risk. The following board was more than favourable to Shane as it ran off 3-J-8-J-A to crown Shane Hall our new Central England champion. Congratulations Shane.
