Nottingham’s Grosvenor Casino was packed to the rafters with around 150 players taking part in the latest East Midlands regional final. Another player would be off to Las Vegas at the end of the day to take part in our VEGAS100 National Final. £500 was also shared amongst places 2nd to 8th as well as 8 UK National Final seats.

The other prize to award was the team event trophy which went to the day’s best represented venue. With Boot & Shoe’s Jon Crosby being eliminated in 53rd place this award was won the by the Cross Keys in Burton Joyce who had 3 players make the top 50. Congratulations to Neil James, Jay Trussler, Anne Hallam & James Caudwell.

After around 7 hours of play we had a 9 player final with Ashleigh Simpson leading the pack on 173,000 in chips and Peterborough’s Ben Farrow the short stack on just 13,000. Previous VEGAS100 qualifier Jake Norfield was looking to qualify for the 2nd time in a couple of years at just 21 years of age. But it was Rob Benzie and Mark Warner who shone throughout the final with both gradually increasing their mid-range stacks. The heads-up match was a brief encounter with big stack Mark Warner wasting no time in claiming victory as his A-J beat Rob’s K-10 on a board of 8-7-4-2-2. Congratulations Mark.
