Our West Midlands One regional final was played in Walsall which saw nearly 200 players invited! All with a chance of leaving with the day’s top prize of a VEGAS100 seat into May’s 2016 trip.

As well as £500 we also awarded a trophy to the best represented venue in the day’s team event. The Horse & Jockey in Kingswinford won the award this time and they were represented by finalist Dave Power, Steve Thompson, George Walker & Nathan Greenaway.

Birmingham’s Junior Vanhorn led the final on a big stack of 234,000 chips, a country mile ahead of the short stack Dave Turner on just 12,000. With Robert Wright exiting the tournament in 3rd place, leaving with £100 and a UK National Final seat, we were left with Phil Bonus, a previous VEGAS100 qualifier, and Karen Gallagher to contest the remaining prizes. The tournament came to an end with Karen tabling A-K to Phil’s K-8 who was at risk for his tournament life. The final board ran out 10-9-2-5-10 in Karen’s favour to crown her the new West Midlands One champion and latest VEGAS100 qualifier.
