Final Table at the Cabin

December 15th, 2009

Tension was great on the final table at the Cabin in Sedgley as players battled it out for valuable points. The Cabin was one of the first venues to play in the Redtooth Poker league when it began in February 2007.

North West Two Regional Final Season 3 09/10

December 15th, 2009

n_west_two_web

The Gala Casino in Liverpool hosted our second North West Regional Final of the season. 10 players took to the final table but only 6 would progress to next years National Final.

Colin Hughes from Rileys in Chester would start as the big stack with 110,000, while Adrian Keegan would start as the short stack with a mere 20,000 in chips. As expected it was a brief final table appearance for Adrian as he was sent to the rail in 10th place with Andrew Sharpe and Damian Roberts probably expected to follow him shortly, as they had 25,000 and 30,000 respectively as the final table began. But that would not be the case as both Andrew and Damian made great comebacks to make the heads-up match and battle it out for the North West bragging rights.

The final hand of the tournament saw two nice preflop hands showdown, Andrew’s suited ace in the shape of A2 was up against Damian’s big pair in the form of TT. Damian’s 70% preflop edge with his pocket pair was not enough as Andrew proceeded to flop the world on a 2A2 flop with his A2, leaving Damian with only 2 outs. A 4 and a J peeled off on the turn and river to give Andrew the title and £500 for his efforts. Nice hand Andrew.

National Final Qualifiers And Cash Prize Winners
1st Andrew Sharpe – Venture, Wigan
2nd Damian Roberts – Ye Olde Coach House, East Preston
3rd Gary Wilson – Mulberry Tree, Warrington

5th Colin Hughes – Rileys, Chester
6th Ciaran Whelan – Farmers Arms, Liverpool

East Midlands Regional Final Season 3 09/10

December 14th, 2009

e_mids_web

The Alea Casino in Nottingham hosted our latest East Midlands Regional Final for the very first time, and they didn’t disappoint. Between all the praise for the casino were 186 people who took their seat hoping to make next years National Final.

Play got underway a little after 2:00pm and Paul Harrison, from the Mundy Arms in Heanor got the eliminations underway as his full house was too strong for Kellem Walton-Mowbray’s broadway straight as he raced into an early chip lead. Unfortuantly for Paul, he was to later fall short of the final table by finishing in 17th place. Several eliminations later, over a 6 hour period saw us get down to the final 9 with the top 8 qualifying, but it was soon announced that one remaining player had already qualified which meant he was now joined by all of the remaining players in the tournament. This was, as expected, met with a big cheer from all.

Soon after, we were down to our 8 man final table. Richard Simmons, from the Wheel Inn in Derby held the chip lead with 305,000, but it was our third biggest stack Carl Percy who dictated the play at the final table, he was supported by our top railbird on the day and his lovely wife Debbie. Carl was to double up early on inbetween eliminating two of the first three finalists and raced to claim a joint chip lead with Richard. The decisive hand came when 3 handed and our two big stacks Richard and Carl clashed as all the chips went into the middle on the flop with Richard holding trip queens to Carl’s nut club flush draw. Nomore clubs were dealt as Richard sent Carl to the rail in 3rd place. The heads-up match was brief as Richard’s stack was just too big for Keith Lindley to make any kind of comeback as Keith’s T3 suited could not outdraw Richard’s Q6 on a Q55 3 9 board. A great day and venue was enjoyed by all.

National Final Qualifiers And Cash Prize Winners
1st Richard Simmons – Wheel Inn, Oadby
2nd Keith Lindley – New Cross, Sutton-In-Ashfield
3rd Carl Percy – Mundy Arms, Heanor
4th Mark Newbold – White Lion, Kimberley
5th David Knight – AJ’s Bar, Derby
6th Dayne Steedan – Mackworth Hotel, Derby
7th Mandy Hillman – Davy Lamp, Ilkeston
8th Jason Sisson – The Bridge Inn, Ilkeston

South England Regional Final Season 3 09/10

December 14th, 2009

s_england_web138 players attended the South England Regional Final which was held at Duffs Full House in Waterlooville, with 6 National Final places up for grabs.

It turned out to be a good day for the two representatives of the West End in Southampton, Terry Stroud and Liam Emmett, as they both made the 9 player final table in decent shape.

Liam was the stand out of the two players as he took the South England Regional Final title, with Terry finishing in a very respectable 4th place. Liam’s heads-up battle ended up being against the chip leader as the final table got underway, Dave Pilgrim from the George in Poole. The result could have been the other way around if Dave’s AT hand could have kept it’s preflop advantage over Liam’s K2 as the final board of the evening read T56 K 7. £1000 was shared between the top 8 players, with Liam collecting £500 and Dave £200 for their 1st and 2nd places.

West Yorkshire Regional Final Season 3 09/10

December 14th, 2009

w_yorks_webOnce again a Redtooth Regional Final surges past the 200 player mark. This time it was the Alea Casino in Leeds that would play host to a total of 205 players for our West Yorkshire Regional Final.

Kenny Bellamy was our unlucky 205th place finisher, probably to the relief of Alan Styles who finished in 204th place. Many eliminations followed as our search for a champion got closer and closer. Bobby Barker was the final player eliminated before we got our 8 player final table.

A fairly even chip distribution meant that any of the final 8 had a good chance of glory and that proved true as two of the shorter stacks claimed 1st and 3rd places. It would be Adam Brown who came back from 66,000 in chips to get his hands on the winners trophy, largely thanks to the river as his 85 overcame Lee Tyson’s 97 on a KT5 9 8 board. A nice £1,000 was shared between the top 8 finalists, with all 8 earning a place in our eagerly anticipated National Final.

National Final Qualifiers And Cash Prize Winners
1st Adam Brown – Flying Inn, Pocklington
2nd Lee Tyson – Hornblower Tavern, Ripon

West Midlands Two Regional Final Season 3 09/10

December 14th, 2009

west_mids_two_webWhen you make a list of the worlds top poker venues, you may well include the Bellagio and the Venetian in Las Vegas, the Crown Casino in Melbourne and even the home of Redtooth Poker’s National Final, Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham. Rarely would the Spring Meadow in Droitwich get a mention, but the pub provided both players in the heads-up battle at the second West Midlands Regional Final of season 3 at the Circus Casino in Star City, Birmingham.

Lorraine Greenman was the chip leader as the final table began with 325,000, closely followed by James Atherley with 230,000. James eventually won the heads-up battle with two pair of jacks and nines to Lorraine’s one pair of nines. Spare a thought for the third player from the Spring Meadow, Tony O’Hara, not only was he the designated driver on the day, he also went out early in 169th out of a 192 player field. Congratulations to all winners and qualifiers.

West London Regional Final Season 3 09/10

December 14th, 2009

london_west_hiresThe popular Loose Cannon Club in London played host to another of our Regional Finals. Over 150 players turned up to play this time around as the tournament was declared running at around 2:00pm.

Nine players sat down as the final table got underway, with Leo Chabert keeping the final table in good spirit throughout. Leo is deaf, but he didn’t let that hinder his progress as with a bit more luck, could of gone home as our Regional Final champion. But we are all glad he’ll be joining us in Nottingham next year for our National Final. One thing is for sure, he’ll be ready for a battle. Wayne Ginger from Rileys in Wealdstone emerged as the winner, 4 places ahead of his compatriot, Richard Scott. Doug Sharp from Bar Malden in New Malden was our unlucky 2nd place finisher as his ‘monster’ 72 of spades hand could not get the better of Wayne’s Q2 as the board ran out QT3 9 5, at least it was suited, eh Doug? You could say unfortuantely or luckily for Doug, as this was his second 2nd place finish this year, as he repeated his feat from season 1, and as you could imagine, he really wanted to go one better this time around but it just wasn’t to be. Perhaps he could could claim his elusive 1st place in our National Final next year. A cool £500 and a nice Regional Final trophy goes to Wayne.

National Final Qualifiers And Cash Prize Winners
1st Wayne Ginger – Rileys, Wealdstone
2nd Doug Sharp – Bar Malden, New Malden (Already Qualified)
3rd Martin Harle – Emma Hamilton, Wimbledon
4th Christine Warne – Sportsman, Reading
5th Richard Scott – Rileys, Wealdstone

Central England Regional Final Season 3 09/10

December 14th, 2009

c_england_webA little under 200 players entered the Gala Casino in Northampton for a chance of becoming the champion of our Central England Regional Final Season 3 09/10. An increase on last seasons 168 runners was only the start of what would become a great day.

A larger than usual final table saw 10 players line up with only eight qualifiers for our National Final. Julie Hayler from the Hobsons Choice in Kettering started in the best shape, with 255,000 in chips and she was followed by our eventual winner, Glen Asbury from the New Inn in St Neots with 185,000 respectively. The heads-up battle came down to Glen and one of the short stacks from the final table, Tom Sutch from the Burnt Oak in Milton Keynes. The final hand saw Glen get some support from the poker gods, as his 65 would come from behind to beat Tom’s K2 on a AAT 5 4 board. Glen picks up a trophy and £500 in cash, congratulations.
