South Yorkshire Regional Final Season 3 09/10

December 7th, 2009

s-yorks-webA healthy 230 players were spread across 32 tables as the latest South Yorkshire Regional Final got underway at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane. Trevor Beavers got the wooden spoon as he was our first player out as the other 229 players carried on the battle. Our final table was set once Chris Forbes was unfortunate enough to finish in 9th place and bubble the National Final qualifying places.

Gareth Thomas started the final table with a commanding chip lead with almost 200,000 more chips than 2nd placed Alex Cash. Andrew Siddal started needing alot of help with only 50,000 in chips. But it was Gareth Thomas who never looked back as he finished as the South Yorkshire champion by beating Neil Gass heads-up as his flopped overcards + openender got there on the turn against Alex’s bottom pair. Congratulations Gareth and good luck in the National Final.

A Nice Pair

December 6th, 2009

As anybody who plays in the Redtooth Poker league will testify, it is difficult enough to win one league, so congratulations to Martin Britton, who won the league at both the Irish Tymes and the Cwrt Rawlin in Caerphilly.
Congratulations Martin!!

Scottish Notes!

December 1st, 2009

sctos_notes_web

Tom Keane of the Albert Bar, Montrose, was the first lucky Scot to get his hands on £200 worth of Scottish notes awarded by Redtooth. Tom finished in 2nd place at the latest North Scotland Regional Final but was unfortunate not to claim the title despite being the chip leader going into the final as his 8c 9d could not stay ahead of Paul McKennas’ Ks 10c as the board read Jc Qh Kh Jd 7h.  Scotch whiskeys all around then Tom?

South Scotland Season 3 Regional Final

November 30th, 2009

south-scotland-winner-webThe Gala Casino in Glasgow saw an impressive 100% turnout for their Season 3 Regional Final. Tom McGuinness held a slight 3,000 chip advantage over Hugh Higgins as the final table got underway, while Andrew Cahoon from Wintergills in Glasgow needed nothing more than a miracle as he started with only 4,000 in chips. The 8 finalists battled their way down to the final 2 players which was between the 2 chip leaders, Tom and Hugh. Tom eventually came out on top as his 8h 2s out flopped Hugh’s 10s 4c on a 6d 8d 4s Qh 6c board. All 8 finalists shared the £1,000 cash prize with Tom collecting a cool £500 and the Season 3 South Scotland Regional Final trophy. Congratulations to all winners and a very well played to all the players.

North Scotland Season 3 Regional Final

November 30th, 2009

scotland-north-winner-webA record turnout at the Gala Casino in Dundee saw a 10 man final table take to the felt. Tom Keane from the Albert Bar in Montrose held the chip lead with 62,000 as play got underway, and Paul McKenna from the Woodville Inn in Kerriemuir began as the short stack with just 17,000. All hope was not lost for Paul as he came back in style from 10th place to make the heads up match with Tom Keane. The momentum was certainly with Paul as his flopped top pair with Ks 10c on a Jc Qh Kh Jd 7h board was much superior to Tom Keane’s flopped gutshot with 8c 9d. Paul took down the exhausting 7 hour North Scotland Regional Final and a well earned £500 in cash. A total of 8 players shared the £1,000 prizepool and a fantastic day and venue was enjoyed by all.

Redtooth has been one of the successes at the Punch roadshows in October and November. At the eleven shows across the UK that featured all the major names in the licensed trade, Redtooth achieved an amazing 75% increase in the number of pubs recruited for the Redtooth Poker league over last year’s total.

Steve Saul commented, “The Punch roadshows are a fantastic way for us to recruit new pubs. It gives us the opportunity to talk to hundreds of potential new clients in a short space of time. We receive fantastic support from the team at Punch and have had outstanding results at this year’s shows.”
