A larger field than last season would all squeeze into Duff’s Full House for our latest South England Regional Final.

The top six would make the National Final and top eight would all win a share of £1000. Play would get under way in good time as the tournament ran very smoothly as a whole. Chris Cameron from the Plough in Seaford and Eddie Backer from the West End in Southampton were the two unlucky players to miss out on a National Final place. Although the £50 they shared would slightly soften the blow.

Two of the medium stacks as the final table got under way would make the heads-up match, Dave Steadman from the Greyfisher in Salisbury and James Purkiss from the Famous Old Pines in Bournemouth. The final hand of the tournament would see Dave’s K6 off suit match up against James’s T5 off suit. There would be no help for either on a flop of 732, James picked up extra straight outs on an A turn but the river was a meaningless J. Dave’s K high would hold up to give him the victory he deserved. Congratulations Dave!

217 runners attended the South West & South Wales Regional Final at the Gala Casino in Bristol. Among those players was Caerphilly’s top poker player Martin Britton, who won both leagues last season at the Cwrt Rawlin Inn and the league at the Irish Tymes, taking his tally to nine leagues in four seasons.

All ten players who reached the final table also qualified for the National Final. Ryan Wilton from the Bell Inn in Yeovil began the final table as chip leader with 295,000 in chips along with Luke Pritchard in second place with 190,000. After starting the final table with just 45,000, Dave Rabey from the Victory Inn made it to a heads up battle with Ryan.

After fifteen minutes of play Ryan came out on top when he had Jd 8d to Dave’s 10d 8s. The flop showed 6h 2d 2s and the 10h on the turn gave the advantage to Dave but Ryan came out on top when Jc came out on the river.

The Gala Casino in Edinburgh would once again host the South Scotland Regional Final with a lovely day being enjoyed by all.

The top eight would leave the venue with a cash prize but only the top two would also leave with National Final invites.

A near 100% turnout would pack the Gala Casino on their quest to become our next UK Pub Poker Champion. A nine player final table would see one unlucky player leave empty handed, unfortunately Elizabeth Harris from the Crofters in Edinburgh would bubble the money places by finishing in 9th place.

The heads-up match would come down to Gary Purcell from the Pentland Roadhouse in Loanhead and Alan Brown from the Queens Retreat in South Queensferry. The cards were on Gary’s side as his 8c5c held up against Alan’s 6c4d for the final hand on a board of 2cKs9c 2d 8s to make Gary our new South Scotland Champion.

A glorious weekend saw the Gala Casino in Dundee host our first Regional Final of the new season.

The top three players would each be awarded with our first National Final seats along with a share of £1000 as all of the top eight would be paid.

The Northern Bar and Butcher’s Arms, both in Aberdeen, would be the best represented pubs at the final table with both pubs providing half of the eight player final. Unfortunately all four just fell short of the heads-up match which was contested between the chip leader as the final table got under way, Richard Arnott from the Cupar Arms in Cupar and Oscars Bucs from the Auctioneers in Inverness. The tournament came to a sudden end as both players were dealt huge hands. Richard held TdTc with Oscars needing a little help with his AhJs. As the flop was dealt, Oscars got the luck he needed by pairing his A and although it wasn’t required, the Ac popped out on the river to give Oscars a full house on a 4dAs4c 5d Ac board. Oscars Bucs was crowned as our first Regional Champion of the new season and he received a Redtooth glass trophy, £500 and a National Final invite.

Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham was once again the host for the Riley’s Ace of Clubs tournament quarterly final.

222 qualifiers from Riley’s clubs all over the country gathered at high noon on Sunday 25th April 2010 to take part in the shootout for a chance to take home a share of the £10,000 prize pot.

Glass trophies and certificates were presented to all of the club winners by Martin Green from Redtooth and John Holmes from Riley’s.

Before the tournament began players were provided with a buffet to charge up their energy levels prior to what was to be another marathon event. The London Marathon was won in just over three hours, while the Ace of Clubs tournament would be won in 12!

oaksie1 won the final week of the season but it wasn’t enough to make the top 10 as he just misses out on consistency. knightlore is crowned our new Redtooth Tavern Champion.
