The well organized Circus Casino, Star City in Birmingham hosted our second West Midlands Regional Final for season 1. 162 players meant the top 8 would all receive a cash prize and a National Final seat.
Play got under way on time at 2pm with a very tight and nervy first hour. Only a handful of players would be eliminated during this time which meant the inevitable rush of knock-outs after the first break.
At around 7pm we had our final table of 10 were unfortunately two of the players would still leave with nothing. It took literally a few hands until we had our final eight players and qualifiers for the next years National Final. Amongst the final eight was Janet Page from the Golden Hind in Kingstanding, this would be Janet’s third Regional Final final table in a row and once again making the National Final. This time around Janet would exit the Regional Final in third place, which left the heads-up match between Sean Julien from the Bull & Anchor in Coventry and Patrick Buchanan from the Beggars Bush in Birmingham, with Sean holding the chip lead. One hand later it was all over as Sean flopped top pair but was unbelievably still an underdog to Patrick’s huge draw, an open ended straight draw and a flush draw. Somehow Patrick missed everything as Sean’s Qc8s held up on a 2dQdJs Ac 4h board against Patrick’s Td9d. Well done Julien.

A record 202 players gathered at the Gala, Sol Central Casino in Northampton for the 2010/11 season one Regional Final.
It took almost 20 minutes before the first player, Alan Smith from the White Hart Hotel in Buckingham was eliminated. Alan received a very loud, but relieved, round of applause.
Early on players appeared to be taking few chances and by the break less than 20 had been knocked out. The early trickle steadily increased as the day progressed and as the blinds increased and by 7pm less than 20 players remained. We finished up with an all male final table, although Kerry Tature-Green from the Lumbertubs in Northampton only just missed out finishing a very creditable 10th place.
The final table was played at a furious pace thanks mainly to Darren Holden from the Collingtree in Northampton. Darren started the final table as the second largest stack with 195k, and in the space of an hour his stack experienced more highs and lows than the average weather forecast.
Nick Kirkley from the Ock ‘n’ Dough in Wellingborough was the unlucky player at the final table as he missed out on a place at next year’s National Final by finishing in 9th place.
Darren’s run of cards finally came to an end with him being eliminated in 4th place. Stuart Gorton from Apsley Village Club in Hemel Hempstead followed soon after in 3rd place, and it was left to Phil Knight from Kingsley Park WMC in Northampton and Paul Beard from the Old Punch House in Ware to battle it out for the title and the £500 first prize. Paul eventually won when a 6s on the river gave him two pairs. The full final hand was Paul’s 6h7h vs Phil’s Kd 4c on a board of 7s5cKs 10h 6s.

164 entrants gathered at the Circus Casino, Star City in Birmingham to compete for eight places in the Redtooth National Final which is to take place next year, with the winner of the days tournament being crowned West Midlands One Season 1 Regional Champion.
With Stephen Davies out in 10th place and Mitchell Cross the unlucky bubble in 9th, the way was paved for the final eight to first celebrate their place in the Nationals and then compete for the Regional Final title. Redtooth’s favourite for victory Rob ‘I honestly couldn’t manage another pint’ Dorrington went out in seventh place, he consoled himself with a beer and a game of pool back at the Pear and Partridge. Lee ‘I’ll play to the river even if it kills me’ Eacock finally failed in his chase to hit a miracle river card and went out in fifth place. When Andre ‘It was the dealers fault and not mine’ Smith-Edwards bust out in third place the head to head could at last take place. Paul ‘If i fold every hand will i make the Nationals?’ Lacey did his best to overcome a larger stack but Michelle ‘If i was any cooler i would be a fridge’ Webb took the title and the £500 cash.
Well done to all that took part and good luck with qualifying for the Season 2 Regional Finals.

An impressive 206 runners entered the Alea Casino in Leeds with the hope of becoming our latest West Yorkshire Regional Champion.
The final table would consist of eight players which meant they would all win a seat in next years National Final and also receive a cash prize, a share of £1000 to be exact. Francesca Platt from the Bumper Castle in York led the way as the final table got under way, but this was to be short lived as Francesca would exit the tournament in 7th place for £30.
The heads-up match would come down to Neil Jessop from Rileys in Hull and Donna Richardson from Halifax Snooker Club in Halifax. The final hand of the tournament would see Neil hold JJ to Donna’s 54 off suit. Unluckily for Donna the flop would come 5J7 leaving her drawing very thin with Neil flopping his set of Jacks. The turn would bring a Q meaning that Donna was now drawing dead so when the meaningless 9 hit the river, Neil could be crowned our new West Yorkshire Champion.
National Final Qualifiers & Cash Prize Winners
1st Neil Jessop – Rileys, Hull
2nd Donna Richardson – Halifax Snooker Club, Halifax
3rd Ian Blanche – Cross Keys, York
4th Richard Oldroyd – Victoria, Beverley

The Loose Cannon Club in London hosted the first of two London Regional Finals. First up was East London and it certainly delivered this time around!
172 runners would sit down before the start of the tournament…. well, 171 to be precise, as one qualifier, Terri Wood from the White Hart in Chelmsford would turn up a little late totally out of breath after closely matching Usain Bolt’s 100m sprint record to make the tournament. As if thing’s couldn’t get any worse for Terri, she then decided to throw a whole glass of coke all over her lap as she sat down just to make it an even more of a nightmare start. Would this be the last we hear of Terri Wood?
Meanwhile, on another table, we lost a player on the very first hand of the tournament. Two big hands were dealt in the shape of Pocket Queens and Pocket Aces, obviously the chips were going to fly and they sure did when the river brought a Q on the board to crush the Aces and eliminate a player in the very first hand.
A final table of 10 would see seven National Final qualifiers and eight cash prize winners. As we got down to the final eight, it was
‘squeekybum’ time for Darren Foster (right) from the Eagle & Hind in Chelmsford. He had only a single 5,000 chip in front of him with still one elimination to go before the qualification places were reached. Unbelievably Darren sneaked into next years National Final as Martin Connelly was the unlucky 8th place finisher. At least Martin left with £20 in his back pocket.
Soon after we were down to the heads-up match between a debutant in Inno Nigro from the Victoria in Cheshunt and… oh… it’s Terri Wood again. Not only did Terri start the final table as the chip leader, Terri’s roller-coaster of a day would end with her taking down the whole tournament when her AdQc came back from behind on the flop against 6c4c on a 4d7d6d Jd Td board meaning Terri would collect an impressive glass trophy, £500 and a National Final invite. What a day!
National Final Qualifiers & Cash Prize Winners
1st Terri Wood – White Hart, Chelmsford
2nd Inno Nigro – Victoria, Cheshunt
3rd Chris White – Hop House, Tunbridge Wells
4th Sam Edmonds – Red Deer, Croydon
5th Ram Marouani – Hop House, Tunbridge Wells
6th Stuart Rowley – Alleyns Head, Dulwich
7th Darren Foster – Eagle & Hind, Chelmsford
Other Cash Prize Winners
8th Martin Connolly – Horseshoe, Thornton Heath

The ever impressive Alea Casino in Nottingham hosted our East Midlands Regional Final for a third consecutive time. A venue which is quickly becoming a big favourite at the Redtooth HQ. Just as equally impressive was the turnout, a whopping 207 players sat down across 21 tables to play some No Limit Texas Hold’em.
‘Shuffle up n deal’ was announced just a little after 2pm and our first elimination was followed soon after. Shaun Palmer from the Harrington Arms in Nottingham was the unfortunate player. This now meant that everyone else could relax and play some poker.
Several hours later we were down to our final table of 10. Unfortunately two of the remaining 10 would leave empty handed leaving the top eight with a cash prize and a National Final invite. Unsurprisingly our two big chip leaders Matt Hickey from the Chesterfield Arms in Bretby and Danny Allen from the Grove Pub in Nottingham, who had 700,000 chips between them would make the heads-up match. But the story of the final table goes to Dave Crosby, one of our Redtooth Tavern online qualifiers who came from only 8,000 in chips to finish in 6th place for £40 and a place in next years National Final.
The heads-up match started with Danny as the chip leader but it wasn’t as straight forward as he’d of liked with the chip lead exchanging hands three or four times until we finally got our East Midlands winner. A pre-flop all-in and a call saw Danny with Js2s and Matt with Ah9h, Matt must of thought he was on for a double up when the flop came 2h9s3h, giving him top pair, top kicker and the nut flush draw. But that still wasn’t enough as the turn and river came 8d and 2c giving Danny trips and more importantly the win as he collects a nice glass trophy, £500 and a seat in our National Final.
National Final Qualifiers & Cash Prize Winners
1st Danny Allen – Grove Pub, Newark
2nd Matt Hickey – Chesterfield Arms, Bretby
3rd Helen Bishop – Argosy, Derby
4th Matthew Collier – Rufford, Mansfield
5th Richard Amess – Chesterfield Arms, Bretby
6th Dave Crosby – Redtooth Tavern, Online
7th Chris Squire – Tappers Harker, Nottingham
8th Matt Hardy – Codnor Inn, Codnor

‘Leo’s’ Casino in Liverpool was the battlefield for our North West Two Regional Final. On this occasion the top six players would make the National Final while 7th and 8th place would have some comfort in knowing they’d receive a small cash prize.
Play got under way in good time and the tournament as a whole ran very smoothly which meant the final table would be upon us in next to no time. Little did we know that this would be where we experienced one of the comebacks of the weekend in the shape of Dave Campbell from the Chapel House Hotel in Warrington. Dave would start the final table with only 25,000 in chips which would make him the second shortest stack. But this wouldn’t stop him bulldozing his way through the other nine players to take our North West Two Regional Final title. Although his Q7 off suit didn’t improve on a 35K 9 A board, luckily, neither did our runner-up Alan Ball’s J8 off suit. Dave’s Q-high earns him £500 and a Redtooth glass trophy. Good luck at the National to all qualifiers!
A special mention goes to Kibria Miah from Rileys in Chester who must of thought a crucial final table double-up was on it’s way as he made a set of Jacks on the flop, only to fall to a 2-outer on the river as an A gave Kibria’s opponent a higher set! Unlucky!

1st Dave Campbell – Chapel House Hotel, Warrington
2nd Alan Ball – On Cue Snooker Club, Ellesmere Port
