Within the first few hands of the final table we had lost two players and had our National Final qualifiers. Play then slowed down as everyone wanted to be the South Yorkshire Champion and win the all important trip to Las Vegas. Short stack, Pete “The Best” kept his head down and played cool, which took him to final heads up against chip leader Gary Cheadle. The flop came down Jh 6d 8d to give Gary two pair leaving little chance of Pete’s pocket queens beating him. The turn revealed 3c and the river Kc declaring Gary as the new South Yorkshire Champion. Well played.
